Sardinian magic and legends: Contos-Sonori returns to the Houdini Theatre on March 13th.
After the great success of the first event with the Cagliari audience, featuring the show on January 29th at the Nova Karel Art Gallery, "ContoS-Sonori: an island of legends" returns to the city for an unmissable second appointment. This time in the magical and unique setting of the Houdini Theater in Cagliari: the Theater of Magic. The stage of the famous school dedicated to mystery and wonder of illusionism will, for one night, become the portal through which the myths and sounds of a Sardinia far from conventional routes will come to life.
The Houdini Theater on Via Molise, Friday, March 13, 2026, at 7:30 pm, opens its doors to the live performance "Contos-Sonori: an island of legends," offering the Cagliari audience a second opportunity to relive the magical journey of the island. More than just a show. The literary reading that intertwines recitals and dances in a unique immersive experience, enveloped by the lively notes of the piano, accompanies the audience on a sensory and narrative journey into the most authentic heart of Sardinia, between legends and myths. In the live show, the island's legends are not just told but evoked. The hearth stories reignite and come to life on stage, transforming into sounds, symbols, and pure emotion, engulfing the audience in a suspended journey between reality and wonder.
Every note, every word, and every gesture becomes a magical formula: a journey where nothing is taken for granted and where the known meets the unexpected. Inspired by the book "Juniper Berries. The Essence of Sardinia" by author Eleonora D’Angelo, "Contos Sonori," after its Cagliari debut, has embarked on an artistic journey starting to expand and soon find its place, as scheduled, in the most suggestive theaters of the island.
THE STARS OF THE NIGHT
The protagonists of the evening will be the journalist and writer Eleonora D’Angelo, and the pianist and composer Liliya Akhmetzyanova, two artists from different paths united by a profound expressive affinity. Eleonora D’Angelo will guide the audience with a warm and evocative voice, intertwining words, gestures, and ritual movements that recall the ancient bond between man and nature, the liveliness and drama of earthly events. A journalist and writer, she has been telling the island's stories for years through stories, memories, and traditions, collaborating with regional magazines and managing the SandàliaRacconta blog. Her connection with Sardinia gave birth to the book "Juniper Berries. The Essence of Sardinia," which directly inspired the live performance "ContoS-Sonori."
Alongside her, Liliya Akhmetzyanova, of Tatar origin, began her musical journey at the age of six and graduated with honors from the State Conservatory of Kazan. Her career has taken her to perform around the world, in international and prestigious settings, developing a musical language capable of crossing genres and styles. Moving to Sardinia in 2017, she found on the island a new and fruitful source of inspiration: here, her most recent discographic projects were born, including "Lisipi" (2018) and "Rainy Dusk" (2024), solo piano albums. Her intense and enveloping compositions guide the listener through a sonic experience of strong emotional impact.
Together, they will create a captivating and suggestive show where music and words blend to recount, even through music, popular legends, folklore, and memories of ten historical regions of Sardinia. Two pieces by Andrea Cutri and Silvio Canargiu, respectively, will join the original repertoire enriching the sonic narrative of the show and contributing to an artistic mosaic that celebrates the plurality of voices, suggestions, and identities of the island.
In the performance, the journey in Sardinia becomes an intimate and engaging experience, reliving in every spectator through the tales of myth and legend and, in the suggestive atmosphere of Houdini's Theater of Magic, transforming into an authentic evocative ritual. Words and music intertwine like ancient formulas, immersing the audience in the most intriguing places and itineraries on the island, between mystery, folklore, and wonder.
