A man against the current who, despite being rich, chose not only to be poor
but to serve the poor. A knight who no longer wanted to make war and who, as a friar,
during the time of the crusades, went to the Holy Land preaching
peace and brotherhood.

But why does Francesco still fascinate us after eight centuries? And where would we find him
today? Among the beggars asking for alms in a supermarket parking lot?
Among the African porters moving packages in some warehouse in the
logistics sector?

On stage there is Ascanio Celestini telling the story and Gianluca Casadei playing music.
Rumba is the third part of a trilogy also including Laika (2015) and Pueblo (2017). The two characters are the same in all three shows, they live
in a condominium in some suburb and tell each other what happens to them.
In the poor people of their neighborhood, they recognize faces and fates similar to
those of the last ones that Francesco met eight centuries ago, who, today as
yesterday, no one sees.

How many stars are there in the sky? So many that they cannot be counted. How many
stars in the sky? Start counting. One, two, three. You get to a hundred, a hundred and fifty.
Then you lose count. They cannot be counted because there are so many and
they are all scattered.
