Pharos - Paulina Herrera Letelier Exhibition at the Ethnographic Museum

From April 19th, at 6 pm, the Regional Ethnographic Museum Cocco Collection in Cagliari will host the exhibition Pharos by Paulina Herrera Letelier, an artist from Santiago, Chile, born in 1978. This marks a new chapter in the Hanging-Suspended project, an exploration of the rich relationship between art, design, and craftsmanship in the contemporary world.

Following Ruben Montini's tapestries, Herrera Letelier's carpets engage in a dialogue with the museum space, anticipating the interventions of Annalisa Cocco and Nietta Condemi. The curator of the exhibition is Efisio Carbone, Director of the ISRE Museum Department.

The exhibition project titled Pharos is inspired by a study of the coastal landscape of the Mediterranean, specifically focusing on lighthouses and maritime lanterns as architectural and symbolic elements. The carpets, created in collaboration with the prestigious Mariantonia Urru workshop in Samugheo, are like textile maps where design becomes rhythm, rhythm becomes light, and light becomes a story. This exhibition is part of the Hanging-Suspended project: carpets and tapestries in the minds and hands of artisans, artists, and designers. It involves a series of solo exhibitions by designers and artists in collaboration with local textile artisans and cooperatives.

Upcoming exhibitions by Annalisa Cocco and Nietta Condemi De Felice will continue to grace the spaces of the 'Collezione Luigi Cocco' Ethnographic Museum in Sardinia until September 2025. The exhibition setups are curated by Architect Giovanni Filindeu with Smart Allestimenti. The opening will also feature a culinary experience curated by chef Marina Ravarotto.
