"First Meeting": Four Jazz Giants in Concert at Teatro Massimo on May 26

Four jazz giants on the same stage for a new, original artistic project signed by Sardegna Concerti. On Monday, May 26 (9 pm), at the main stage of the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari, the great international jazz scene forcefully returns promising an evening of great emotions and entertainment.
Pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, saxophonist Chris Potter, bassist Larry Grenadier, and drummer Eric Harland will kick off the new spring season of jazz in Cagliari with a high-profile artistic collaboration that originated in August 2023 at the Dizzy’s Club at the Lincoln Center in New York.
A 'First meeting,' two years ago, brought together four great musicians tasked with bringing an original piece or arrangement and their passion for making music together. Since then, this initial encounter has spawned a series of high-quality concerts. On Monday, May 26, in Cagliari, the band will reunite on the stage of the Teatro del Massimo for an exceptional artistic endeavor blending technique, creativity, and pure musical expression.
Gonzalo Rubalcaba, winner of numerous Grammy awards and a prolific pianist and composer, began his career in his native Cuba at a young age. Discovered by Dizzy Gillespie in 1985, Rubalcaba has garnered acclaim internationally through collaborations with renowned figures in the jazz world. Chris Potter, an internationally acclaimed saxophonist and composer, has established himself as a leading figure in his generation. Larry Grenadier, one of the most admired and accomplished bassists in contemporary jazz, and Eric Harland, a highly sought-after drummer, round out this stellar lineup.
