Cagliari FestivalScienza 17th Edition

From November 7th to 12th, Cagliari’s Exma Art Center will once again host the much-anticipated Cagliari FestivalScienza, a highlight of the city’s cultural autumn. This year’s theme, “Contaminating,” brings together science and the humanities through a packed schedule of 23 workshops, 14 lectures, 11 book presentations, exhibitions, animations, concerts, and more. The festival will engage attendees across several city venues, from the Aula Magna of the Rectorate to local museums and libraries.

The event, organized by the ScienzaSocietàScienza Association, seeks to break down the barriers between scientific and humanistic disciplines, emphasizing cultural sustainability in technological development. Highlights include Gianfranco Pacchioni’s opening lecture on AI at the Rectorate and a talk by Senator Elena Cattaneo about women in science. A key discussion will be the November 10th round table, exploring the idea of a new scientific humanism and the interconnected nature of modern knowledge.

In addition to its Cagliari events, the festival will reach other Sardinian cities like Oristano, Nuoro, Senorbì, and Iglesias, reinforcing its commitment to science education and outreach across the region. The Woman of Science Award on November 12th will honor female scientists who have made impactful contributions, addressing ongoing challenges related to gender equality in research.

The festival promises engaging experiences for students, educators, and science enthusiasts, aiming to foster a broader understanding of scientific citizenship and the positive blending of knowledge across disciplines.
