Welcome to Cagliari: Daniele Marzeddu

Lìberos presents: Films of Sicily and Sardinia, by and with Daniele Marzeddu. Contributions by Michele Bertoni.

In the winter of 1921, D.H. Lawrence, accompanied by his wife Frieda, decided to embark on a journey to discover Sardinia. Little did he know the cultural impact that adventure would have, as documented in his book 'Sea and Sardinia'. Despite the brief tour, the English writer was able to portray a poetic image of the island and its people, still recognizable today. A century later, photographer Daniele Marzeddu retraced the steps of that adventure with the intention of building a bridge between Sardinia and other overseas lands, investigating if any memories of that journey still remain, beyond plaques and commemorative busts in various parts of Italy. Sound visions by Michele Bertoni, composer. Foreword by Simon Hill, President of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain. English/Italian version.
