Two air raid shelters in Stampace

Hypogea, cavities, caves, and, more recently, air raid shelters have always been a fascinating aspect of Cagliari. This underground world stretches for kilometers through the city's bowels. The looming threat of war in the late 1930s led to the adaptation or construction of numerous tunnels that still characterize the city's underground today. Among these, Stampace features the air raid shelter of the Salesian Institute and the ancient crypt of Santa Restituta. Explore these mysterious and evocative cavities that marked one of the most dramatic chapters in Cagliari's recent history.
