The "Music on Display - Concerts by Conservatory Professors" series is back: the program of events

The annual event 'Music on Display - Concerts by the teachers of the Conservatory' is back in Cagliari for 2025 at the Municipal Art Gallery. This event is promoted and organized by the Department of Culture of the Municipality and the Civic Museums, in collaboration with the Giovanni Pierluigi Da Palestrina Conservatory of Music.
After a jazzy opening on March 30th in the Oppo Hall of the Cagliari Conservatory with Francesca Corrias' sextet concert, there are 10 scheduled events in the exhibition space of the Municipal Art Gallery from April 6th to November 16th (with a break for the summer). These musical aperitifs combine the sounds of music with the visual art on display in the central hall, creating a unique sensory experience.
The series kicks off on Sunday, April 6th with 'Souffle,' a performance by flutist Alessandra Giura Longo exploring the expressive possibilities of the flute, enhanced through electronic processing, voice, and gesture. The program includes two recent compositions for bass flute by Sardinian composers Gaia Aloisi and Michele Sanna, creating a dialogue with the exhibited works of artist Pastorello.
On April 13th, electronic music by Daniele Ledda will take the stage with the 'Clavius' project, expanding on John Cage's concept of the prepared piano. Using a percussion keyboard and hybrid clavichord with bow and free reeds, Ledda will present the latest developments in his research.
Before the summer break on May 4th, 'Contemporary Resonances' features a piano duo by Silvia Belfiore and Mario Carraro, performing a repertoire of four-hand piano music from the last fifty years. The program includes works by de Machaut, Bach reinterpreted by Kurtág, and compositions by Clementi, Ligeti, Crumb, Oppo, Volans, and Sollima.
The series will resume on September 21st with a percussion duo performance by Francesco Ciminiello and Roberto Migoni after the summer break.
