The renowned Pazza Idea Literary Festival returns for its 13th edition under the theme “Disegnare Orizzonti” (Drawing Horizons). This year brings a change in venue, moving from the historic Ghetto in Castello to the more intimate Teatro Carmen Melis, within the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. From November 21 to 24, 2024, this cultural event promises an immersive experience with a rich program of literary discussions, art exhibitions, performances, workshops, and more.

Opening Day: Celebrating Artistic Expression

The festival kicks off on Thursday, November 21, with the inauguration of the exhibition Book As Art. I libri, le artiste, curated by Simona Campus and Paolo Cortese. This showcase features works by female and emerging artists. Following the opening, psychiatrist and author Vittorio Lingiardi will deliver a lectio magistralis, exploring themes of art and cinema inspired by his book Corpo, umano (Einaudi).

Notable photographer Ferdinando Scianna will discuss his iconic book cover images, while the Bologna-based feminist street art collective, Cheap, will delve into their activist approach to art. This lineup sets the tone for a festival that celebrates the intersection of creativity and social discourse.

Workshops, Panels, and Concerts: A Weekend of Inspiration

On Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, mornings are reserved for free workshops led by prominent figures such as Pierluigi Vaccaneo, Valentina Notarberardino, and Fabio Magnasciutti. These sessions are open to all upon reservation, offering unique opportunities to engage with experts in writing, illustration, and digital communication.

Afternoon highlights on Friday include discussions on ethical journalism with Arianna Ciccone, director of the International Journalism Festival, and an exploration of contemporary writing with Antonio Franchini and Giulia Caminito. The evening concludes with a musical performance by Salvatore Maltana and Marcello Peghin.

Saturday offers a deep dive into literature and criticism, beginning with the book Caratteri mobili about writers’ correspondence. Panels on digital cultures and communication will feature renowned linguist Vera Gheno and sociologist Beatrice Cristalli. Later, discussions on reputation and social media will involve experts like Daniele Chieffi and Ilaria Gaspari, followed by insights from blogger and writer Fabrizio Acanfora. The evening program includes Alessandro Piperno’s presentation of his novel Aria di famiglia and a talk with graphic designer Riccardo Falcinelli.
